TheragenEtex Bio Institute published the results of a study titled, “Association between the relative abundance of gastric microbiota and the risk of gastric cancer: a case-control study,” which was conducted together with a research team from the National Cancer Center in “Scientific Reports,” a sister journal of “Nature.”

This study was conducted on a sample of 556 healthy adults and 268 cancer patients for 7 years between 2007 and 2014. It was an epidemiological investigation on the relationship between microbiological distribution and diseases through the use of Metagenome analysis.

The results of the study showed that Helicobacter pylori, Prevotellacopri, and Propionibacterium acne germs increased the incidence rate of gastric cancer by 1.86, 2.54, and 4.77, respectively.

Conversely, Lactococcuslactis, which is known to be beneficial bacteria, was found to have a cancer preventive effect, lowering the incidence rate of gastric cancer by 1/5.

Based on these findings, TheragenEtex is preparing to launch Gastric Microbiota Genetic Testing Services at the Microbiome Business Department. <Original Copy of Thesis: https://rdcu.be/bRqGU>
