Seoul National University R&DB Foundation and Theragen Etex Accelerate Development of “Healthcare Big Data Showcase Building Project”
On March 9, the consortium of Seoul National University R&DB Foundation and Theragen Etex, a research institute in the “Healthcare Big Data Showcase Building Project” of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, announced it begun full-scale development by applying for a review of specific tasks by the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
The “Healthcare Big Data Showcase Building Project” is the key to the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s “4th Industrial Revolution-based Healthcare Development Strategy.” The consortium of SNU R&DB Foundation and Theragen Etex was chosen for the project.
This project aims to prepare a standardized base and improve big data competitiveness to accumulate various healthcare data such as genome, lifelog, care, and exam records, and improve their uses.
This project is led by SNU R&DB Foundation (Professor Ju-han Kim) and Theragen Bio (CEO and President Samuel(Taesoon) Hwang) with 5 other participants including Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Kangbuk Samsung Hospital, Gangnam Severance Hospital and LG CNS.
More specifically, this project was proposed by the Healthcare Ad Hoc Committee, 4th Industrial Revolution Presidential Committee. It is meaningful as a proposed healthcare policy from the private sector is selected and commercialized as the government’s project. Furthermore, as the National Assembly recently passed Three Data Acts, such research has become more important.
